Welcome! This is the homepage for the JET Program members in Oita-ken (大分県), Japan. We are located on the lovely island of Kyushu in the south of Japan. You will find information here specific to people living in Oita and JETs in general. For the history of Oita Prefecture, please go here.

The Tombo Times is a monthly newsletter about current events put together by the folks at the Oita International Plaza. You can read it online at their website or have it sent to you home free of charge if you email michael[at]emo.or.jp.

Also be sure to read up on our charity, Room To Read. In 2006 we built a school in Vietnam and are currently working to build another in Nepal!

The following people have been instrumental in maintaining the site over the years. Derek is the godfather who started the site after becoming frustrated with lack of information regarding getting a license. Sarah updated the site to its second design. Tyler, the current webmaster, migrated the site to a Wordpress platform for its third glorious incarnation.
